About my artworks

I never make sketches, neither do I figure out. I paint directly. As we dream — directly. My spontaneous and immediate technique doesn’t allow me to analyze or judge while I’m painting, which makes the outcome almost unpredictable and full of surprises — just like life itself.
I want to evoke memories. To re-member who we truly are: powerful light-beings in a magical world, where everything is connected and where there is no separation. I paint my longing for freedom. My intention is to express beauty. Allowing my true essence, my innocence, to come forth.
At the outskirts of my inner self, I build the bridge where upon my greater identity and my personality may meet. There, in the streams of consciousness I catch the movements of existence. Rhythms, overtones and musical chords are sifted from abstract spheres which I trancelate into words and images, always with feelings of freedom and playfulness. This is the communication that interests me; direct contact, direct dialogue. To move freely between worlds.

About Charlotte’s exhibition “re:member“ opening event at Tyresö Exhibition Hall 2015

Every year in November, and in cooperation with the Tyresö Art Association, Tyresö Exhibition Hall arranges an exhibit wherein we showcase an artist with a connection to the municipality of Tyresö. This year, we have the great pleasure of hosting an exhibit featuring the Tyresö based artist and poet Charlotte Krook.
Her exhibition is titled re:member, and within it Charlotte displays large acrylic based paintings on canvas, as well as smaller framed artworks made using ink, water color and collage techniques. The third part in the showcase consists of poems that Charlotte transcribed by hand using red ink on water color paper.
This artistry is independent and strong, and shows a personal character wholly free of the vagaries of time, and immune to whims and pandering. Charlotte's artistic expression is a universal language that speaks to us beyond words, beyond space, and beyond time.
Both her paintings and poems contain a powerful sense of storytelling. Fascinating! Where do all the stories come from? How can both depictions and non-depictions speak to us so directly? As observers and readers we want to eagerly enter, and become absorbed into the artworks and allow ourselves to be immersed in the movements and the narrative.
The title re:member gives us guidance, and a direction: re member (re:member) who you truthfully are, who you were in the dawn of time, beyond all the layers covering you throughout the ages. We are invited to a journey, perhaps inside ourselves, perhaps in each other. Invited to encounters. To a musical world filled with movements, rhythms, and resonances.
Charlotte paints her pictures with the precision and confidence of a calligrapher. Despite the total control she exerts over the movement and the brush, the directness and spontaneousness of a sketch and its energy is retained. The paintings convey self-assuredness, and a sense of authority born out of experience. Visitors to her exhibition will surely linger, sit down, contemplate, be inspired and replenish their energy during this dark month of November.
Thank you, Charlotte, for a wonderfully exciting journey together, for a lovely collaboration and for so generously sharing your thoughts, experiences and pictures. And for the beautiful exhibition we are privileged to display. Thank you.
